Thank-You Gifts for the Parents of the Bride and Groom

Parents do an awful lot in the run-up to a wedding – the planning, the worrying, often the paying, and a fair amount of crying on the day. A small thank-you gift is a lovely way to recognise that, and it doesn't need to be expensive to mean a lot.

When to give it

The most popular time is the morning of the wedding, while everyone's getting ready. It's a quiet moment before the day gets busy, and a gift with the wedding date on it feels especially fitting then. Some couples give gifts during the speeches instead, or save them for after the honeymoon with a thank-you card.

What makes a good thank-you gift?

  • Something they'll keep. The wedding is over in a day; a keepsake with the date on it lasts.
  • Something personal. Their role in your wedding, your names or the date make it theirs.
  • Something small enough to pack. It'll probably travel to the venue in a bag with everything else.

Card and keepsake gift sets

For the wedding morning, a gift set pairs a textured 5x5in card with a matching ceramic heart – you write your message inside the card, and the heart is the keepsake:

Don't forget the grandparents

Grandparents often love being included. There are Grandma of the Bride and grandparents of the bride and groom keepsakes too, and I'm happy to personalise them with Nana, Nanny or whatever they're called.

What to write in the card

Keep it simple and honest. A few ideas to get you started:

  • Thank them for something specific they did in the build-up.
  • Mention a memory from growing up that the day brought back.
  • Tell them what it means to have them there.

Quick questions

How far ahead should I order?
Everything is made to order within 1–2 working days and sent Royal Mail 1st class, but I'd order a couple of weeks before the wedding so it's one less thing to think about.

Can I change the wording?
Yes – step-parents, ‘Mum & Dad’, or anything else. Send me a message.
